YOU MUST SEE The Mighty Mike McGee
Almonte brings in The Mighty Mike McGee to celebrate Poetry Month
One of the foremost spoken word poets in North America will be dropping by for a special performance on Friday, April 24th. The mighty Mike McGee is the next best thing since sliced bread. I take that back. He is the sliced bread of spoken word poetry. Mike McGee is an international spoken word artist, writer, performer, speaker, slam poet and comic. He has performed in thousands of venues all over North America, and was one of the first Americans ever to perform poetry at the University la Sorbonne in Paris, France. Don't take my word for it. Check out his website http://www.mikemcgee.net for his full bio and performances, plus strange things that he has invented. It all takes place in the Social Hall at the back of the United Church on Elgin Street starting at 7pm. It will be a potluck and poetry show, so bring food and and 5 dollars for admission, plus a little extra cash for Mike's CD. Get your word on! With special performances by youth poets Cori Riendeau and Emily Kwissa. This is a fundraiser for TYPS (Take Young People Seriously) and LiPS (The Lanark County Live Poets Society).
